Note: this is a review by 123telugu.com team after watching a special screening of the movie

Story :

Baadshah (NTR) is the youngest and most aggressive player in the international crime syndicate headed by Saadhu Bhai (Kelly Dorji). Baadshah’s father Ranjan (Mukesh Rushi) operates a very profitable casino in Macau and he is a trusted aide of Saadhu Bhai. Baadshah’s intelligence, ambition and aggression soon put him on a collision course with Saadhu Bhai and the Don wants to finish off the young upstart. With the help of rival Dons Crazy Robert (Ashish Vidyardhi) and Violent Victor (Pradeep Rawat), Saadhu tries to eliminate Baadshah and his family.
Saadhu also plans large scale terrorist attacks in all the major metros of India. Baadshah vows to foil the plans of Saadhu and to do this, he takes the help of Janaki (Kajal) and her father Jai Krishna Simha (Nasser). Jai Krishna Simha is the Police Commissioner of Hyderabad and he is a very strict head of a joint family that also includes Padmanabha Simha (Brahmanandam).
As the story progresses, it becomes clear that there is more to Baadshah than what meets the eye. He has a tragic past and a powerful motive for taking on Saadhu Bhai. What is that motive? Who is Baadshah? How does Padmanabha Simha fit into the plans of Baadshah? That forms the rest of the story.

baadshah Movie review

Plus Points :
NTR is simply brilliant as Baadshah. The character demands aggression, style and ruthlessness. NTR displays all three qualities in abundance. His comedy timing is spot on and the sequences with Kajal in Italy are very entertaining. In the second half of the film, he changes his appearance and dialogue delivery effortlessly, to transform into someone else (I don’t want to reveal more details). NTR’s dances in ‘Sairo Sairo’ and ‘Rangoli Rangoli’ are fantastic.
The film will be a feast for fans. There are some special sequences that have been designed to delight them. Special mention must be made of NTR’s brief appearance in the Justice Chowdhary getup. The resemblance to his legendary grandfather is just too much. In the second half, there is a very entertaining sangeeth episode based on a medley of Sr NTR’s popular songs.
Superstar Mahesh Babu’s voice over comes in at a number of crucial junctures in the first half and it is effective. Brahmanandam is hilarious as Inspector Padmanabha Simha and he is a major asset for the film. His scenes with NTR and Nasser are rib-tickling. Sreenu Vaitla has cleverly used the ‘living out a dream’ concept from the Hollywood flick ‘Inception’ to come up with Brahmanandam’s comedy track.
Kajal entertains with her ‘Banthi’ philosophy and corny one liners. She looks quite glamorous in the movie. Suhasini is neat. Navdeep has done well as an evil cop. Hero Siddharth has a very small but very crucial role in the film. Nasser is effective as the strict police officer. Pragathi has come up with a surprisingly effective and entertaining dance in the sangeeth ceremony sequence.

Minus Points :
The film has certain similarities to a number of Sreenu Vaitla’s past projects.Talented actors like Jayaprakash Reddy, Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, Master Bharath, Chandra Mohan and Thagubothu Ramesh did not receive characters fit for their abilities.
The movie slows down a little as it approaches the interval. A fight sequence should have been chopped off to speed up things.

Technical Aspects :
Four different cinematographers worked for the film and it is difficult to say who shot what. But the visuals look very rich and colourful. Editing could have been better in the first half. Thaman’s background score is effective and lends good support to the proceedings.
Choreography is good for all the songs. Sairo Sairo and Rangoli have the best steps. Dialogues are hilarious and the one liners are very effective. Credit must go to Sreenu Vaitla, Gopi Mohan and Kona Venkat for this.
Sreenu Vaitla scores at the Box Office because of the entertainment quotient in his films. ‘Baadshah’ is no different. He has come up with some good comedy sequences in the movie. He has used Brahmanandam and M.S.Narayana effectively.
Production values are very good.

Verdict :
Baadshah is a very effective entertainer for the summer holidays. Brilliant performances from NTR, Kajal, Brahmanandam and M.S.Narayana coupled with a highly entertaining second half are major plus points for the film. Despite similarities to Sreenu Vaitla’s past projects, the film makes for a very enjoyable watch. Catch ‘Baadshah’ this weekend. Entertainment is guaranteed!

Bad boy movie review

Hero Karthi’s “Alex Pandian” has been dubbed into Telugu as “Bad Boy” (Good choice as Alex Pandu wound have sounded dumb). Karthi has made his comeback after Eight months the release of Sakuni to Tollywood.

Story Outline:

Story for this movie is like asking a 4 mark question in 16 mark questions section.

The beginning of the movie is the much hyped train sequence. Karthi(Alex Pandu) bashes up the thugs who chase Anuskha on the trains which was well choreographed but not worth the hype.

Immediately after the hero’s fight entry we are introduced with Santhanam’s family. Santhanam’s family consists of his mother and 3 sisters. Alex settles down at his house in spite of stern opposition from Santhanam and flirts with all his three sisters played by Nikita Thukral, Sanusha and Akanksha Puri. Meanwhile we are shown that the villains Suman and Milind Soman are seriously searching for Karthi and Anuskha. The first half is full of comedy and a few fights. Just before the interval the villains find Anuskha and abduct her. Karthi abiding to the hero’s typical responsibilities goes and saves her, which is then continued by a chase seen where hero’s “Omni car” Is chased by 15 Sumos and Scorpios. But not surprisingly they evade all the cars and the first half comes to an end.

Then in the second half the hero tells the flashback (weird hero telling his own flashback. Doesn’t is  come across as Self Dabba?) to Santhanam whose petty comedy was the only thing holding the movie. The flashback is as follows.

Alex a local Thug (who uses a Mercedes and Hi-fi equipment) is approached by a coterie of bad men consisting of an NRI businessman (Milind Soman) who wants to import some banned antibiotics from US, a rich doctor (Suman), a Swamy ( Mahadevan) to kidnap Health ministers daughter Anuskha as the minister refuses to sign the contract. Alex successfully kidnaps her and confines her in a house in the Forest. Later he changes his mind when Anuskha tells him the reason for her kidnapping and the effect those antibiotics will have on people.

After the flashback Anuskha proposes her love to Alex and a song later comes the climax. A twist ( not to the frequent movie goers) that chief Secretary (Pratap Pothen) and City Police Commissioner are also integrated with the baddies. They kidnap Anuskha (Yet again) and Alex who comes to the rescue (Yet again) tortured by hitting him with football (Really? Footballs!! Creativity!!) but saves her and how all the villains are killed forms the closing shot of the film.

Direction:

  • Suraj who has given hits like Padikathavan and is known for his Comedy films tries his hand at action. But this movie couldn’t keep the balance and is high on action and very low in comedy. He lost the plot midway and his poor narration fails to attract audience. The story is almost rotten old stuff and is very predictable and some sequences and dialogues are highly avoidable. The director had totally made a mess of some excellent and experienced cast. One could see people yawning at the Action scenes towards the second half.

Karthi’s Performance:

  • Karthi tried his best in his role. Unlike the good boy role he usually plays, Karthi seem to have tried a new variation in his character. Karthi presentation is excellent but the script is too weak for him to pull it off. He has done action sequences without using body double and looks brilliant in stunts. And he also impresses us with his dance.

Other Performances:

  • Anushka’s screen presence is more in the second half. But she has nothing in the movie to offer. She was just reduced to a girl in distress who often looks up to the hero. Santhanam is hilarious at parts and irritating at times due to some poorly written scenes. Renuka as Santhanam’s mom and Sanusha, Nikitha Thukral as Santhanam’s sisters are good. Rest of them are okay. Milind Soman as a baddiehad good potential but got nothing much to do except for a few round of gunfire in the film. The dubbing for his character is also poor. Would like to see more of him in the coming movies.

Technical Review:

  • Cinematographer Sarvanan’s photography stands out of all technical departments ,especially the train action sequence.Editing by Praveen-KL Srikanth is of average quality.
  •  One of the highlights of Alex Pandiyan is action sequences. The stunt scene choreographed by Ganesh, shot on a moving train between Mysore and KRS dam has already drawn audience attention. Six cameras were used and a train was reportedly hired for 15 days by the movie bosses which costed around Rs 2 crore.
  • Music by DSP was just Average.

Positives from the Film:

  • The only positive I can think of is Karthi’s performance. Karthi looks good and tries to charm his way into the hearts of the viewers. But charm only works when the script has something to offer. Nikita Thukral looks gorgeous. Milind Soma looks dashing as a villain.
  • Some double meaning dialogues and a few cheap comedy scenes may work for the masses. One or two action sequences are ok.

Negatives of the Film:

  • Got only 3 letters to say in the negatives – KSD. The director concentrated more on the action scenes than on the story. Poorly written comedy is another drawback of the film.

Final Verdict of the film:

  • Go for it if you have nothing else to do. One Time watch.

Eega Movie Review – Brilliant work first of its kind in Tollywood

Eega Movie Review – A Brilliant show of Cinematography and graphics

  • Film: Eega
  • Producer: Suresh Babu
  • Director: S.S Rajamouli
  • Starring: Nani, Samantha, Sudeep and of course the “Eega”
  • Music: M.M keeravaniBanner: Varaahi Chalana Chitram

Rating: 4/5

Story Outline:

Nani loves the heroine Samantha strongly and even villain Sudeep’s eye falls on her. With that Sudeep kills Nani. Now, Nani’s soul comes out and he wants to take revenge so he is ready to take another birth. The divine power also says you can take revenge but Nani says he doesn’t want to take revenge in human form.

Because rebirth as a human will mean he has to go through the phases of growing for almost twenty years. He states that he needs something short lived like a ‘Housefly’. The power asks how can you kill a human being with that form and Nani replies he will do it with his intelligence so he asks for a short lived form. And the rest of the Movie is about how Nani in the form of “Eega” or House Fly takes revenge on the villein Sudeep which is portrayed in a very beautiful way the best scene which i loved was when there are some emotional scenes between Samantha and Eega. And in the end where the Eega dances to the tunes of some famous stars in the Scroll at the end of the movie.

Direction, Cinematography, Stunts, Choreography:

These are the main aspects of the movie the impressive Special Effects Direction and Cinematography make this movie the first of its kind in Tollywood with impressive story line and very good suspense scenes this is one good movie to go to.
eega movie review

Positives from the Film:

Sudeep steals the show in the performance section. Samantha is cute and the interactions between her and the “Eega’ are heart touching and one of a kind.

Kids will be very attracted to this movie due to the special performance from “Eega” and dont wonder when they try to catch one after watching the movie or ask you for a Eega toy.

Rajamouli and the Special Effects team has to be given special credit for their work on the movie to make it look as real as possible, the editing and all the camera effects are very impressive.

Eega performs Chiranjeevi’s Indra step and Jr NTR’s Yamadonga step during the climax title scroll.

Negatives from the film:

Some scenes are pretty dumb like the Aghora scene which could have been used in a better way.

Final Verdict of the film:

Eega is one such movie which can make our Tollywood industry proud and put us in the league of the big wigs. It is a must watch movie which brings a Telugu touch to the Special effects and use of our emotions and relations is very good. It is one of a kind movie which should not be missed.

Gabbar Singh movie Review - Pawan Kalyan and Sruthi hassan

Story Outline:

This Story is an adaptation of the Salman Khan Starrer Hindi Movie “Dabaang” but there are many changes in the story and many twists included to make it different from the original and include some South Indian touch to it.

Pawan Kalyan who plays the role of (Venkatarathnam Naidu) in the movie is the son of Suhasini and Step son of Nagineedu

(Naidu) Venkatarathnam Naidu calls himself “Gabbar Singh” as he is inspired by the Sholay Character. Gabbar Singh grows up to be a Police officer with courage and confidence like none ever seen. He is posted in Kondaveedu  which is his home town, that is when he decides to help his home town which is polluted with Crime and bring in law and Peace. This is when he comes in direct confrontation with Siddhappa Naidu (Abhimanyu Singh), the local goon and a future political leader.

During this War of the good and bad, Gabbar Singh meets Bhagya Lakshmi (Shruthi Hassan) who’s introduction is not much to look up to. Bhagya lakshmi’s father played by Kota Srinivas rao is a treat to watch, he plays the role of a drunkard and hence the one of a kind song  by the legend “Mandu Babulam”.

Some scenes where Pawan makes an entry in a rickshaw with Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Ee petaku nene mestri’ playing in the background brings huge applause and has caught the craze of the audience in a big way as they went into a frenzy.

The First half is pacy and is exiting to watch, the first half ends with a massive fight Scene.

The Second half is not as good as the first half the Emotional scenes are good but prolonged and has many action scenes, so we can say that second half is ruled by action and sentiment overall. The Scenes to look out for are the Antakshiri game is Gabbar Singh’s Police station which gives you Stomach breaking laughter.

The Plot of the movie runs around weather Gabbar Singh will be able to stop Siddhappa Naidu’s atrocities or will Gabbar singh repent of taking on a goon of his stature. The Climax is expected and the Second half has a very expected story line and it does not make it much exiting except for the Dialogues of Pawan kalyan and some fight scenes which were shot excellently.

Hero:

Pawan Kalyan is excellent as Gabbar singh and has done justice to all corners of his role, the comedy and Punch Dialogues will make his fans crazy and expecting more and more which he keeps delivering all through the movie, his dance was good and the fight scenes were well choreographed and good to watch.

The Punch single lined dialogues are a Treat to hear and watch.

The songs in the movie were well shoot – Dil se, Pilla and Title song were romantic pieces where as “Kevvu keka” is an out and out mass song with Malika Arora Khan wooing the audience with her dance steps.

Heroine:

Shruthi Hassan has played well the role of a Village girl looking innocent and beautiful in her langa oni dresses. Shruthi Hassan does not have much Role in the movie but has done justice and carried her role really well for the time she appears on the screen. The Romantic scenes between her and Pawan Kalyan are really good to watch and touch the hearts of the audiance.

Other good performances:

Comedian Ali as constable Samba plays a very good scene with Pawan kalyan maybe trying to replay the chemistry they both shared in the movie Kushi. the Antakshari and the scenes in the Police station are hilarious and Ali has played his part is making the Audience burt out in laughter.

Brahmanandam plays the role of  Recovery Agent Ranjith Kumar, and as usual creats laughter riots in the audiance.

Suhasini and Nagineedu carry on their role preety well as the parent of Gabbar Singh

Kota Srinivas Rao was given just a very minute role with a Song “Mandu Babulam” and some scenes with Shruthi hassan in the movie.

About Direction, Cinematography, Stunts, Choreography:

Harish Shankar has done an excellent job in potraying Pawan kalyan all out as the Mass hero with stylish dance steps and helped in bringind out his persona which has earned him his fans in the induatry.

Cinematography, Stunts and Choreography were well balanced.

Positives from the Film:

It is a Hero centered film and Pawan Kalyan has done justice to his role, the songs were a treat to watch, the fights are exiting, romance is pleasing and emotional scenes are heart touching which i guess complete all the aspects of the movie.

Negatives from the film:

The Villain Abhimanyu Singh does not suite the character he plays, i think some other Villain would have suited the character better. Kota Srinivas rao gets a very small role in the movie, Shruthi Hassan does not have a major role in the movie except for being the eye candy. Tanikella Bharani was also not used and his role does not do justice to his talent, the Director has wasted the talent of two experienced actors by not giving them important role sin the film.

The First half is pacy and goes on with a good tempo which is lacking in the second half, the tempo suddenly dips and the story turns into and all out emotional and filled with fights half with an expected climax, care should have been taken to match the Second half with the First Half.

Final Verdict of the film:

This movie is an all out Pawan Kalyan Movie with the main concentration on presenting him and he has done justice to the role. The Punch dialogues and the exiting fights and comedy make you stick to the seats and want more.

For Pawan Kalyan Fans: A Must watch movie which cannot be missed

For others: A remake of movie with the first half expertly done and second half not matching to the first half. Make sure you dont compare it to Salman Khans Dabaang as the story is very different in the second half.

Dammu Movie Review – Jr NTR Dammu

Hero: Jr. NTR

Dammu movie Review

Dammu movie Review

Story Outline:
The movies starts off with 2 Raja’s families fighting and later swearing that they will live only to kill each other (yea the same routine start that happens in every mass movie of this sort). After a few generations it is Suman(the good side.. who cares for the people of the village and treats them as equals) and Nasser(Duh!! Obviously the villain) as the head of the families and they decide that instead of being in fights always they will fight only for 2 days of the year and who ever wins will be ruling till the next year. But unfortunately the only son of Suman dies at birth and there is no one who can carry the families legacy.
Then comes the present day i.e 25 years later
Jr.NTR gives a thunderous entry by jumping from a 3 storied building(nothing abnormal for a mass movie) and then leads to an opening fight. It is shown that NTR is an orphan and is a kind of guy who values peoples lives and will go extremes to save others. Then NTR meets Trisha and its love at 1st sight.A song(O Lilly) and a fight later even trisha falls for him on one condition that he should be from a Raja’s family to marry her.In the meanwhile, Ali the side-kick of NTR reveals that there is a Raja (Kota Srinivasa rao) who is secretly trying to adopt someone as successor to his throne. NTR falls for the offer and immediately accepts the proposal.
After the adoption is done he is renamed Raja Vasi Reddy and is taken to the village. There he sees that the people of the village are being suppressed by Naseer. At first he is reluctant to fight Naseer as he doesn’t want to take up un-necessary blood shed. What changes Vasi Reddys mind and how he stops Nasser forms the rest of the movie with a few not so important lame ending twists(routine routine routine..).

Direction:

Boyapati Srinu has tried to portray Jr. NTR in all his galore, with getting the best out of him in all the aspects Mass dialogues, Comedy scenes and Emotional scenes. The movie is centered on Jr.NTR.He did a decent job with the direction and did the movie with a clear target audience in his mind. The film is definitely for Nandamuri family fans. The movie had its ups and downs though. Some places I felt the movie was very good and some places I felt it was bad.On the whole I can say it was an average direction.
Jr. NTR Performance :

As expected Jr. NTR has brought out his mass performance once again to the delight of his fans, it is a power packed performance. He fits his role perfectly and has done full justice to his role with excellent dialogue delivery and spontaneous comedy. The dance was just average.

Trisha and Krithika Performances:

To start off with I was disappointed on knowing the female lead cast of the movie.Trisha whom I felt is done with her career and Karthika who is not exactly known for her glamor and as I anticipated both of them were disappointing especially karthika. Her very presence in the movie was frustrating and I just prayed that she would go away :P .Both the actresses shared no chemistry with NTR and looked taller than him in most of the scenes.Anyways one can easily ignore these coz they don’t have much of an important role in the film.

About any other good performances:

Venu who is seen after a long gap has performed very well and plays an important role in the movie. Brahmanandam as usual is good but the comedy isn’t top notch and so was Ali.Naseer performed very well as a villain.

Music :

The music director MM Keeravani gave a well suited BGM and the songs were also good. But the songs were not pictured well.Ruler song was a huge disappointment for me.We could see NTR in the armor getup with long hair like in the movie “Shakti”.It was a little comic of seeing NTR that way suddenly. But I guess NTR fans would think otherwise as a NTR fan who was sitting beside me was all gaga over the look and style.Raja Vasireddy song was well shot and well placed in the flow of the movie.

Positives from the Film:

It is a Mass masala movie with equal bit of Comedy and emotions .The star of the show is definitely Jr. NTR who showed his best performance with the Mass dialogue Delivery and Expressions which each and every time being out huge applause and whistles from the audience. His style in the movie is awesome,be it the scene where he sits and waits for the enemies or the way he runs. The interval bang is also awesome.

Negatives of the Film:

The director couldn’t just capture the mass flow of the movie. As i mentioned earlier some parts just seemed perfect while some were boring. So the movie kind of had a sine wave curve. It was ironic of Jr.NTR teasing Brahmanandam as potti(short) as he himself looked short in most of the shots (him being surrounded by taller cast and the director shld have done something about it).Towards the end of the movie there is a scene where a police officer keeps hitting NTR for no apparent reason(An unnecessary emotional scene). The other side actors were very bad as were not able to do simple acting and were just reading lines from the script. The heroines have not been given much importance (But we cant complain much about it as it was an hero oriented movie). In many parts of the film there were political references which I thought were unnecessary and forcing on the audience.

Final Verdict of the film:
For NTR Fans – Must Watch
Others – Can watch it once on your own leisure.
The film is not an out an out mass movie,so even families can watch it.I watched it in a multiplex where ppl even cracked jokes on some scenes, clearly showing that it is a movie that will fair well only at B and C centers.

Dialogues I liked:
1)“ Brathakandi.. Brathakandi.. antey vinaledu kadara… kotha modalaindi.. raatha raasina bhagavantudu vachina aapaledu…”
2) “Naadi kaadanukoni koditheney ila vuntey… ee vooru naadi, ee janam naa vaallu, ee samasya naadi ani kodite .. Nee yabba.. Padi.. padi taraalu ne vamsam lo maga pilladini kanali ante bayapadathaaru”
3)” Odhu Antune naa chetha kathi pattincharu kada ra” – The emotion with which he tells this dialogue is just superb.

Ram Charan Racha – Movie Review

Posted on 05 April 2012 by varun

Racha Movie the Much awaited movie for Ram Charan Tejh  yet again seems to bring average response form the audience.Racha Movie Review

TollywoodGossips Rating: 3/5

The Story goes as follows:

This is a movie revolving Revenge and Betting.

Raj ( Ram Charan ) is a guy who makes money on bettings. His father (MS) falls ill and doctors say that his liver has to be transplanted. So Raj takes up a bet thrown by James (Ajmal) to make Chaitra ( Tamanna ) fall in his love. Chaitra is daughter of Ballari (Mukesh Rishi), a hardcore criminal and multi millionaire. Now Raj has a big challenge ahead of him

Villian Kills all the people of a village and the Hero (Ram charan) who wants to take revenge for the Village people by killing the villian is the story around which the movie revolves.

In the first half Hero challenges a bet of 20 lakhs to woo heroine Tamana and make her his lover. Tamana has done a very good job in acting and dances. Vana Vana song has also been pictured very well with good dance steps. First half gives you the feeling of Racha becoming a Hit

Second half brings this expectations down with 30 mins of complete boredom. In the second half everything is based on the Revenge aspect of the movie and a lot of fights which is not that different from the other movies we have seen.

Parachuri Brothers have done a good job with the Dialogues, Music by Mani sharma is a bonus for the film and Direction is the main Plus point for the film, Gowtam Raju made sure that the movie is made on a grand scale with

It is difficult to understand why Ram charan and Chiranjeevi have accepted this movie as this is the movie which is coming after the big flop Orange. So i guess Racha will not take Ram charan anywhere but waiting for his next movie.

Chiranjeevi Remix Songs has been a talk of the town lately but i dont think that song will also be able to save this movie.
